Meet Our Team

Dr. Nathan Higgins earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Virginia Tech. He then went on to a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Higgins practiced small animal medicine in Manassas, Virginia. In late 2013, Dr. Higgins decided to move to the Eastern Shore and start Cape Charles Animal Hospital. Dr. Higgins’ professional interests include surgery, ultrasonography, and challenging medical cases. Outside of work, Dr. Higgins enjoys spending time with his children, Autumn and Cayden. He also enjoys fishing, and spending time outdoors. He looks forward to serving Northampton County and the surrounding area.

Jessica has been one of our receptionists since the end of January 2018. She has recently been promoted to our team manager! She was born up in Long Island, New York and then moved to the Eastern Shore with her family. She graduated High School at Northampton and then attended Hollins University where she received a Bachelor's degree in Business and Communication. She lives in Cheriton with her 4 fur babies, Guinness, Korbel, Mystro and Sally. Jessica has always had a love for animals and is very excited to be a part of the team! She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Michelle was born and raised in Fredericksburg, VA where her parents and brother still live. She graduated from Randolph College with a Bachelors degree and a minor in equine studies. She has been working in veterinary medicine for 4 years now. Michelle has two cats, Norman and Beanz, a dog named Walter and a horse named Cali. When she isn't at work she can usually be found in the barn, fishing, or at the beach!

Antonia is a proud Alumna of Virginia State University where she received her Bachelors in Science as a Pre-Vet Medicine major. She has her eyes set on attending vet school in the near future! Born and raised here on the Eastern Shore, she has worked in veterinary medicine for 5 years and has one dog, Tapanga. She loves spending her time at the mall shopping and trying new foods! Antonia also loves working at Cape Charles Animal Hospital where she is excited about building wonderful bonds with her coworkers, the clients, patients and learning tons of interesting new things every day!

Haylie was born and raised here on the shore! She owns a self proclaimed 'mini zoo' of dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, and geckos. Haylie enjoys going on walks with her dogs and hanging out at the beach. Haylie has a life long goal to open a non profit rescue some day! 

Haleh was born and raised here in Cape Charles! She is currently enrolled at ESCC for medical assisting and is aiming to be a pediatric nurse one day. She has two dogs, Scarlett and Zeus. Haleh loves to enjoy her free time on a boat or at the beach!
